Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo

Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo is the main Dominican church of Venice (known as San Zanipolo in Venetian), this minor basilica was actually dedicated to two obscure soldier-martyrs named John and Paul, not the saints. Built in the 1430s, the Italian Gothic church hosted the funerals of all of Venice’s Doges from this time and 25 of them are buried on the grounds.
