Preah Neak Pean

Also constructed under Jayavarman VII, Preah Neak Pean (“Entwined serpents”) is a small island temple built in the middle of Jayatataka baray (lake). The site is a collection of five ponds, with the large central pond hosting the small temple that commemorates Buddha’s enlightenment. Two snakes are visible at the base of this island temple, winding their way around. The long boardwalk to arrive at the site is safe, although try not to fall off the sides!
