Banteay Kdei

Originally constructed by the 13th century, Banteay Kdei (“Citadel of Chambers / Cells”) operated as a Buddhist monastery up until the 1960s. The Eastern entrance courtyard is referred to as the “hall of the dancing girls” because of the motifs on some of the pillars. Sadly, the construction materials were generally of poor quality, hence the somewhat ruinous state of the buildings.
