Masjid Lebuh Acheh

Masjid Lebuh Acheh, the yellow / cream mosque also known as Masjid Melayu (“Malay Mosque”, and Acheen Street Mosque) sits just off Lebuh Acheh, with its Egyptian-style minaret catching the attention of those who walk past. The mosque was constructed in 1808 as part of the Muslim settlement in the area, sponsored by a benefactor from Acheh (Northern Indonesia). The mosque historically played an important role for Hajj pilgrims in the area as they prepared for their journey to Mecca.
