Alas Kedaton

If you are keen to watch monkeys scamper about, then the Alas Kedaton forest temple area is definitely up your alley. Consider this to be a quieter and smaller scale version of the monkey forest in Ubud.

There are approximately 2,000 Balinese macaques that live in the area, as well as a local bat colony. As part of the experience, the local bat keepers will bring a couple of bats out to feed and hang about (pun intended). There is a small temple complex on the site with a few small meru. The thatched roofs have wire mesh keeping everything in place, as the monkeys otherwise rip everything up.
